DOMAIN SAFETY

How to Check Domain History Before Buying

A domain's old website can reveal uses that affect reputation, search visibility, and buyer comfort.

Start with multiple snapshots across years, not just the most recent capture. Look for major changes in language, industry, ownership, and content quality. A domain that moved from a legitimate business to unrelated promotional pages deserves more scrutiny.

Search the domain in quotes, inspect indexed remnants, and compare archive dates with registration age. A clean archive is useful evidence, but gaps do not prove safety. See domains with traffic only after checking whether old visits are relevant and genuine.

Domain purchases involve risk. Verify marketplace information and perform independent legal and technical checks.
